Do you want to know how to become a better writer? Here are a few sure and tried tips for accomplishing your writing goals.
Tip#1: Organize Your Thoughts Before Writing.
What do you want to say? How do you want to say it? To some, organizing your thoughts before writing may seem difficult and that’s normal. Most of the time our thoughts are random and are all over the place. Therefore, it’s no surprise that when you write how you think, your writing is also all over the place. So stop. Organize your thoughts. Then write.
Tip#2: Set a Regular Schedule
If you plan on writing a book, or writing an article for a blog, or writing a paper for school, you have to sit down and do it. Well… many of us live busy lives and sometimes can’t find the time to do what we know we need to do when it comes to our writing. So, schedule it and schedule it regularly. Whether you decide to write before you go to bed or if you decide to write as soon as you get up. Do it often and make it a habit!
Tip#3: Keep Up With Good Grammar
This is a biggie!!! Do not write the way that you talk. Most of us do not use good grammar regularly. So can we expect to write and use good grammar? We can download the Grammarly app to help us, and the more that we utilize that tool, the easier it will be for us to use good grammar in our writing.
Tip#4: Keep a Journal
Not only is keeping a journal good for your mental health, but it is also good for your writing skills! You can incorporate this tip into setting a regular schedule. Before you go to bed each night, write in your journal. You’ll thank yourself for utilizing this practice later!
Tip#5: Go Longhand for a Change
If you can take 500 words and turn it into 1000 words that might be the better options. If you can make sure that all 1000 words are necessary not and just fluff ( adjectives and long sentences) you will be in great condition! Don’t assume the reader knows what you are talking about. Elaborate when possible and necessary.
Tip#6: Learn From Other Good Writers
One of the best ways to become a better writer is to read! Read books by great writers! You will unconsciously begin to write the way that you are reading. This does not hurt at all. In fact, it helps with improving your grammar!
