Author Interview with Barbara Evans

Meet Author Barbara Evans, the author of “Mommy Said”

Barbara, how did your journey as an author begin?

When I was in high school I wrote a book based on my brother’s drug addiction but I never finished it until years later.

Who or what motivated you to write?

My brother and my daughter and my vivid imagination

Do you only write in one genre or multiple? Please explain why or why not.

I would say multiple because it’s so much to write about.

What tips can you offer other authors?

Tell your story, be encouraged and be patient.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

    Happily retired!

What does being an author mean to you?

It means a lot to me. To be able to use my vivid imagination and put it in writing to create a story line and to be able to share it with an audience.

What’s your favorite quote and who’s it by?

“Love recognizes no barriers.”- Maya Angelou

If you could co-author with anyone – dead or alive- who would it be and why?

Terry McMillan because her work center’s around the African American woman.

What do you want readers to know about you?

I’m a reserved, hard worker. I love life even with its ups and downs. I believe in treating people with love and respect. And through it all, I owe my life to God.

What do you want readers to know about your book?

“Mommy Said” is actually my second book. It sheds light on a topic that no one likes to talk about but it happens. Abuse comes in all forms but you can still rise above your circumstances.
