Author Interview With Caleb Jakes

Caleb, readers want to know, how did your journey as an author begin?

My journey as an author began as an extension of my quest to share the profound transformations I’ve experienced in my own life—transformations of body, mind, and spirit. This voyage into authorship was neither planned nor anticipated; instead, it was a calling that grew from the depths of my personal narrative and the desire to touch the lives of others with hope and empowerment. From the earliest days of my transformation, I recognized the power of story. As I shared snippets of my journey on social media and spoke at various events, the responses I received were overwhelmingly positive. People from different walks of life reached out, expressing how my story resonated with them, offering them a glimmer of hope amidst their struggles. It was these interactions that illuminated the path toward writing a book. The realization that my personal experiences could serve as a source of inspiration and guidance for others was the catalyst for my venture into authorship. Writing, for me, was a deeply introspective process, a form of therapy that allowed me to delve into the recesses of my past, confront my battles with obesity and self-doubt, and articulate the essence of my journey towards surrender and faith. The process was both challenging and cathartic, requiring me to revisit moments of pain and triumph alike, to distill the essence of what I had learned into words that could uplift and inspire. My commitment to spreading God’s joy and creating a global community of “JOYionaires” also played a crucial role in this transition to authorship. I saw the book as a platform to extend my reach, to connect with individuals beyond the confines of social media and public speaking engagements. It was an opportunity to deepen the conversation about transformation, to explore the intricate dance of faith, fitness, and fulfillment in a way that was both comprehensive and accessible. As I navigated the complexities of writing and publishing, I leaned heavily on my faith, seeing this new role as an author not just as a personal achievement, but as a divine assignment. My experiences as a motivational speaker and the CEO of Joyionaire Enterprises laid the groundwork for this venture, providing me with the tools and confidence to craft a narrative that was both authentic and impactful. I aspire to not just tell my story, but to invite others into a journey of discovery, resilience, and profound joy.

Was it something you always wanted to pursue?

Becoming an author was not always a dream I had consciously pursued; it emerged organically from my life’s journey and the mission that I felt deeply connected to. My primary passion has always been to inspire and uplift others, to share the joy and transformative power of God’s love in overcoming personal challenges. However, as I navigated my personal transformation—losing weight, overcoming obstacles, and discovering a deeper purpose—writing became an unexpected but powerful medium to extend my reach. The idea of authorship blossomed from the realization that my story and the lessons I learned had the potential to resonate with a broader audience, offering hope and guidance to those on their own paths to self-discovery and spiritual fulfillment. The transition to writing and sharing my journey in a book form was a natural extension of my speaking engagements and social media presence. It allowed me to delve deeper into my experiences and the insights I’ve gained, providing a more intimate and detailed guide for others. While I hadn’t always envisioned myself as an author, the process of writing “Shedding Pounds, Gaining Purpose: The Weighty Joy of Surrender” felt like a calling I couldn’t ignore—a divine opportunity to use my voice in a new and impactful way.

Who or what motivated you to write?

Beyond personal influences, my motivation to write also sprang from the vibrant community I’ve been fortunate to build through my social media presence. This community—comprising individuals from various backgrounds, each with their own stories of struggle and triumph—became a source of inspiration and a driving force behind my decision to author a book. Interacting with this diverse group, hearing their stories of adversity, resilience, and transformation, I recognized a shared hunger for guidance and inspiration that transcends conventional self-help. These individuals were not just seeking advice; they were searching for a connection, for stories that mirrored their own, for proof that transformation is possible and that joy can be found in the journey of self-discovery and spiritual growth. I saw an opportunity to amplify my message, to reach out to a wider audience craving the blend of spiritual insight, motivational guidance, and actionable strategies that I had to offer. Writing a book allowed me to dive deeper into my own story, providing a more nuanced, comprehensive guide that could serve as a beacon of hope and a manual for transformation. Their journeys, filled with challenges, setbacks, and victories, echoed my own and highlighted the universal aspects of the human experience: the search for purpose, the need for community, and the transformative power of faith. In essence, my motivation to write was deeply intertwined with the stories and lives of the people I sought to serve. Their needs, aspirations, and the genuine connections we formed fueled my commitment to sharing my journey, hoping to light the way for others as they navigate their paths to joy and purpose.

Have you written anything outside of your current category or genre?

 I have not.

Ok, well where do you see yourself in 5 years?

I aim to grow the JOYionaire community into a global network, connecting individuals from all walks of life through shared experiences, victories, and challenges. This community will serve as a supportive space for transformation, where members uplift and inspire each other to achieve their fullest potential. Building on my foundation as a motivational speaker, I see myself hosting conferences around the world, bringing together thought leaders, wellness experts, and change-makers to share their insights and stories. These events will not only inspire but also equip attendees with practical tools and strategies for personal and spiritual growth. I plan to author more books that delve into various aspects of living a joy-filled, purpose-driven life, each amplifying the core messages of faith, resilience, and transformation. Additionally, expanding my presence in media—through podcasts, online platforms, and collaborations—will enable me to reach and inspire a wider audience. On a personal level, I’m committed to continuous growth in my faith and as an individual. I see myself deepening my relationship with Jesus Christ, exploring new dimensions of spirituality, and embracing challenges as opportunities for growth. This personal evolution will not only enrich my own life but also enhance the authenticity and depth of my message. Ultimately, my goal is to leave a legacy that transcends the bounds of my spoken words and written works. I envision creating a lasting impact that encourages generations to embrace their inherent potential, to face life’s challenges with courage and faith, and to pursue a life marked by joy, purpose, and fulfillment.

What does being an author mean to you?

Being an author, to me, is a sacred vocation, a profound way of sharing one’s soul and essence with the world. It’s more than merely penning words on a page; it’s about weaving parts of my spirit, my struggles, my victories, and my unwavering faith into a narrative that reaches out to touch others, to connect on a deeply human level. It’s an act of vulnerability, courage, and profound trust—trust in the power of my story to inspire, heal, and transform lives. Authorship carries the weight of responsibility and the light of opportunity. It’s a responsibility to convey truth, to uplift, to challenge, and to open doors to new perspectives and possibilities. It’s the opportunity to leave an indelible mark on the hearts and minds of readers, to spark conversations, to foster a sense of community and shared understanding. In every word, I seek to bridge divides, to illuminate the shared path of humanity in search of joy, purpose, and divine connection. To me, being an author is also about legacy. It’s about planting seeds of hope, wisdom, and empowerment that will grow and flourish long after the book is closed. It’s a means of transcending time and space, allowing my voice to echo in the lives of future generations, guiding them through their journeys of self-discovery and spiritual fulfillment. Furthermore, authorship is a reflection of God’s work in my life. It is a testament to the transformative power of faith, a celebration of the beauty that arises from surrendering to His will. Through my writing, I aim to bear witness to the miracles that unfold when we align our will with the divine, embracing our challenges as catalysts for growth and opportunities to manifest God’s glory in our lives. In essence, being an author is an extension of my mission to spread God’s joy and love. It is a platform granted by grace, enabling me to reach across the globe, to touch lives, and to contribute to the collective journey towards understanding, acceptance, and spiritual awakening. It is a role I embrace with humility, passion, and an unwavering commitment to making a difference, one word at a time.

What’s your favorite quote and who’s it by?

My favorite quote is from the book of James, chapter 1, verses 2-4. It reads, “Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.” This passage holds a special place in my heart and aligns perfectly with my life’s mission. It teaches us to embrace our challenges with joy—not just passive acceptance, but active joy—because these difficulties are not mere obstacles; they are opportunities to grow in faith and strength. Every trial is a chance to develop perseverance, which in turn brings us closer to a fuller, more complete version of ourselves, equipped for any challenge that comes our way.

If you could co-author with anyone – dead or alive-  who would it be and why?

If I had the privilege to choose anyone as a co-author, dead or alive, it would undoubtedly be Myron Golden. Golden is not only a master in integrating biblical principles with business acumen but also a profound testament to the power of transformation through faith and discipline. His life’s work resonates deeply with my journey and the core mission of Joyionaire Enterprises. Myron Golden’s approach to life and business is rooted in spiritual growth and practical success, much like my own path from overcoming personal challenges to inspiring others to find their purpose and joy. His book, “From the Trash Man to the Cash Man: How Anyone Can Get Rich Starting from Anywhere,” exemplifies this synergy, mirroring the principles I outlined in “Shedding Pounds Gaining Purpose.” Both of us advocate for using one’s inherent potential to achieve extraordinary outcomes. Co-authoring with Golden would allow us to blend our insights on turning adversities into advantages, creating a powerful narrative that uplifts and empowers. Our combined expertise would not only reach individuals looking to enhance their personal lives but also those striving to elevate their entrepreneurial endeavors through divine wisdom and proven business strategies. Together, we could create a masterpiece that motivates, educates, and transcends, making an indelible impact on the hearts and minds of our readers.

What is the overall message that you want to share with your readers?

The core message I aim to impart to my readers centers on the transformative power of hope, the resilience of the human spirit, and the boundless joy discovered through surrender to God’s will. It’s a testament to the belief that our greatest challenges can lead to profound personal growth and fulfillment. By sharing my journey and the lessons learned along the way, I hope to inspire readers to embrace their struggles, to find strength in their faith, and to understand that true change and happiness come from within, guided by a divine light. It’s about encouraging everyone to see that, in every moment of surrender, there’s an opportunity for renewal and the promise of a brighter, purpose-driven future.
