How did your journey as an author begin?
Since I was a young girl, I’ve held a deep desire to write and it became clear to me that I wanted to showcase the incredible impact of Service Dogs and how they can transform the lives of their human companions. Determined not to delay any further, I made up my mind to embark on this journey and share with the world the profound significance these amazing animals hold.
Was it something you always wanted to pursue?
Even in my early childhood, I possessed a clear vision: someday, I would write a children’s book. The desire to craft stories that would captivate young minds took root within me, and it has remained my ambition ever since.
Who or what motivated you to write?
Writing has always held a special place in my heart, and my sweet companion, Harvey, has been a constant source of inspiration and motivation for me to embark on this book-writing journey. His unwavering presence and the love we share have fueled my passion to put pen to paper and bring this story to life.
Have you written anything outside of your current category or genre?
I have only written short stories and many journal entries.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
In five years, I envision myself immersed in the process of writing several more books in this series, further expanding the adventures and stories that revolve around Harvey. Alongside my writing endeavors, I hope to have the opportunity to travel to classrooms and various venues, sharing my books and giving readers a chance to meet Harvey in person. Witnessing the joy and excitement on the faces of young readers as they connect with the characters and messages in my books would be a fulfilling and rewarding experience.
What does being an author mean to you?
Being an author holds deep meaning for me. It represents a profound connection between my creativity, my voice, and the power of storytelling. It allows me to bring forth my ideas, thoughts, and emotions into a tangible form that can resonate with others. Being an author means having the ability to craft worlds, characters, and narratives that have the potential to captivate, inspire, and provoke thought.
What’s your favorite quote and who’s it by?

If you could co-author with anyone – dead or alive- who would it be and why?
If given the opportunity, I would love to co-author with Eric Carle, the beloved children’s author and illustrator. Eric Carle’s work has had a profound impact on countless children and adults alike, with his vibrant illustrations and enchanting stories capturing the hearts and imaginations of readers. Collaborating with Eric Carle would be an incredible experience because of his unique artistic style. His stories have a timeless quality that resonates with readers of all ages. Working alongside him would provide an opportunity to infuse our collaborative work with these meaningful and universal messages, creating stories that can inspire and delight young readers.
What is the overall message that you want to share with your readers?
The overall message I aim to share through the Harvey’s Special Mission books is the profound impact that animals, particularly service dogs, can have on our lives and the importance of empathy, understanding, and inclusivity. One of the key messages is the transformative power of companionship and support. Harvey’s presence and unwavering dedication demonstrate how service dogs can positively influence the lives of individuals with different needs, providing comfort, assistance, and a sense of security.
Through Harvey’s Special Mission, readers will learn to appreciate the incredible role that service dogs play in enhancing the quality of life for their human companions. Another central theme is the importance of understanding and acceptance. Through Harvey’s encounters with various characters, readers will explore the diversity of experiences and challenges that people face. The books will promote empathy and foster a sense of compassion, encouraging readers to embrace differences, treat others with kindness, and recognize the inherent value in every individual.
Additionally, the books will touch upon themes of resilience, determination, and personal growth. Harvey and his companions will face obstacles along their journey, teaching readers the importance of perseverance, adapting to change, and finding strength in the face of adversity. Ultimately, the Harvey’s Special Mission books seek to inspire readers to appreciate the remarkable abilities and contributions of animals, cultivate empathy and understanding towards others, and embrace the idea that we all have a special mission in making the world a better place.
