Author Interview
How did your journey as an author begin?
I have always enjoyed writing since my early school years. Even in the summers, I wrote letters to my classmates and friends. This is my first attempt at writing a book.
Was it something you always wanted to pursue?
I have not always wanted to write a book, but I love communicating via writing
Who or what motivated you to write?
My desire to educate and inspire the younger members of my family motivated me to write this book.
Have you written anything outside of your current category or genre?
When my mother was killed in an automobile accident, I wrote an article that was published in the magazine for our National Association of Educational Office Professionals. Over the years, I have written and delivered countless keynote addresses/speeches across the United States with NAEOP. I have also developed/written material and presented numerous workshops at the state and national levels.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
Traveling this nation and some foreign countries and sipping on a cold drink. Seriously, if this first book is well received, I have thoughts of continuing the story as a series of 2-3 books.
What does being an author mean to you?
An opportunity to share my love for others through words, to remind others to be thankful regardless of the situation/circumstances they find themselves in, and hopefully inspire or encourage someone else to step out in faith,
What’s your favorite quote and who’s it by?
I have several favorites, but I guess that one that tops them all is from the Bible: Philippians 4:13 – I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me
If you could co-author with anyone – dead or alive- who would it be and why?
Maya Angelou or Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Inspiration/self-worth
What is the overall message that you want to share with your readers?
With faith in God and the love and support of family and friends, we can overcome any situation. Not saying we will not encounter challenges, but because we know who we are and whose we are, we can stand!
