Starting Winn Publications in 2018

During my seventh year of undergrad, which was the year I was set to graduate with a degree in Mass Communication, I reached a pivotal moment. I realized pursuing a career in Journalism wasn’t the right path for me.

My dream was to become a full-time author, and my mentor, a professor, encouraged me to gain experience by working for a publisher before I pitched my book. I took their advice and worked as a copy editor for a couple of book publishers. However, I never got around to pitching my book.

Eventually, I shifted my focus to advocating for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. As a survivor, speaking up for victims of trauma became something meaningful to me. Yet, in January of 2018, I took a bold step towards living out my dreams and reaching my goals by launching my own book publishing company. Simultaneously, I began my journey toward mental wellness.

The road to growing Winn Publications while healing from trauma has been far from easy, but it has been profoundly rewarding. As time has passed, I’ve dedicated myself to self-improvement and the growth of Winn Publications and our authors. Both of which I have found a way to weave together and share with others through storytelling.

More About Me

I’m originally from the sunny vibes of Southern California, and these days, I call Central Florida home. As a kid, I had a knack for words – I used to get in trouble for talking too much! Interestingly, my 3rd-grade teacher recognized this and put me in speaking competitions. My contest? Poetry. Fast forward, my love for poetry evolved into a passion for storytelling. Since 2014, I’ve been on a mission to become a full-time author. In 2018, I took the plunge and founded my own publishing company, Winn Publications. I’ve achieved quite a bit – publishing 50  books, formatting over 100, and proudly hosting 8 bestselling authors in the Winn Team. Currently, I have authored 13 books, with more on the way this year.

I’m also passionate about ‘living well,’. I find joy in unpacking topics like healthy relationships – both with oneself and others, and nurturing character and creativity in children, believing in their potential to shape a brighter future. Additionally, my writing often centers around the concept of transformation. I get into the psychological framework of the 3 levels of change – starting with the mental shift, followed by the physical transformation, and finally, manifesting change in our reality. My work spans across various genres, from children’s books to short fiction, anthologies, and even coloring books. In fact, my upcoming project is a personal vision board book, a tool for initiating my own mental transformation.

I hold a degree in mass communication, with a focus on journalism. Equipped with this knowledge, I took a leap and founded Winn Publications, a book publishing company that’s been making waves in the literary world. And the journey continues – this year, my goal is to open a brick-and-mortar bookstore-publisher storefront, bringing literature and community together.
