Shelby Parris was one of the authors on Season Two of The Author’s Spotlight Podcast.
At the time of the article, Shelby was a twenty-four year young New Jersey native. In less than two years he’s written five books (Change Your Subconscious and Accomplish, A Man Amongst Girls: The Thoughts of a Good Man in a Female’s World, Change Your Subconscious and Accomplish: Unavoidable Truths, Change Your Subconscious and Accomplish: Manifesting Affirmations, How I Published My Book With $6 and Made Thousands My First Month), began public speaking, started a clothing brand (Garden Apparel), invested into two network marketing businesses, bought into multiple cryptocurrencies, and created two classes; One, a self-publishing class and the other a manifestation curriculum/class.
He started all of his businesses while at Brevard College in North Carolina. During his time there he restarted the campus’s Black Student Union and won the college’s Rising Star (Leadership) Award. During college, he played basketball all four years and was nominated for the national DII Hero (Player) of the Week award. He also was selected to play for the USA Select basketball program as one of the twenty-two players to travel and play in twenty-one countries throughout Europe. He started my speaking career as a member of the Black Speakers Network and has spoken at numerous high schools, colleges, youth organizations, mental health events, small business seminars, podcasts, made television appearances, radio appearances, and have been a featured guest on over 50 black media outlets between Facebook and Instagram.
His goal is to change the stereotype and show young black men that life is more than the streets, music, and sports. That they have other talents as well. His goal also is to empower other men and women with the knowledge he has and to give back to others.
