Winn Publications’ Author Kendéll Lenice

Interview With Winn Publications

How did your journey as an author begin?

My journey as a writer started when I was a young child. I’ve always liked to express myself in writing. Whether it was a letter, note, poem, short story, essay, speech for school…graduating to writing magazine articles to becoming a published author in 2005.

Was it something you always wanted to pursue?

I never said, “I want to be an author one day.” It was more about who I am as a person. I couldn’t imagine not being able to tell a story, encourage someone or inspire someone through my words. Writing books gives me pure  joy.

Who or what motivated you to write?

Honestly, I don’t know. I would say being in school and my mother introducing me to words as she always said, look it up (definition) if you don’t know the meaning. I also loved English classes.*I was in spelling bees as well.

Have you published your writings into a book? If so, where can we find it/them?

Yes! I have 3 books split books on Amazon and I have been blessed to be part of a collective book as well.

How was the publishing process?

My first published book (novel) was in 2005 and it was a learning experience. The second process was better. My third experience was an e-book (will have a hard copy soon) and that was super easy.

Since becoming a published author, what challenges have you faced if any?

I haven’t face too many challenges other than the financial piece to get quality work out to the masses.

Do you have a tip that you can offer your peers (poets and writers worldwide)?

My tip is to just start writing. You can talk about having a book in you, but if you don’t start writing no one will hear it but you! Start writing a paragraph a day, at least!

Are you currently working on any new projects? If so when can we expect them to be released?

I am actually starting novel #2. I want to release it next year as well as a children’s book!

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

I see myself with several books great selling books under my belt as well as speaking to audiences near and far about living out your dreams without excuses. My saying is, “it’s never too late to remix your life!”

What does being an author mean to you?

Being an author means that the world can hear my inner thoughts. What a privilege that is!

What’s your favorite quote and who’s it by?

My favorite quote is actually mine because I coined it and live it!

“It’s never too late to remix your life!”

If you could co-author with anyone – dead or alive- who would it be and why?

Terri McMillian

Kimberla Lawson Roby –

both for fiction. Terri is an OG and her ability to tell a story is magnificent. Kimberla is able to keep continuity and structure as she works with some of the same characters.

As far as self -empowerment, I would love to work with anyone who wants to inspire people towards greatness!

Maybe Les Brown, Lisa Nicols, Gary Chapman…. and anyone else!
